Streets Alive – Programme Co-ordinator
Gasyard Wall Féile is Derry’s biggest community arts and cultural festival. Now in it’s 26th year edition of Derry’s biggest community arts and cultural festival. The programme attracts thousands of people of all ages/backgrounds to a range of events including music, literature, sport, visual arts, fun days, health, discussions, lectures, community consultation and tours.
Following several years of collaborative work and building on the success of the various Urban Village projects, Gasyard Wall Feile collaborated with a number of community organisations in the Bogside, Bishop Street and Fountain Urban Village area in 2017/2018 to deliver the Streets Alive programme. The Urban Villages Streets Alive programme works under the Gasyard Wall Féile events programme, and has brought community arts, cultural & sporting activity to the streets of the area meeting all the strategic actions identified in the Urban Villages Initiative’s Strategic Framework document for the area and will target all residents, in the Bogside, Bishop Street and Fountain Urban Village area, as well as residents from other areas of the city and visitors to the region.
Job purpose:
To assist with the design and coordination of cultural and creative activities and other innovative programme initiatives which support delivery of the Streets Alive Urban Villages Initiative in the Bogside, Fountain and Bishop Street area.
The Programme Co-Ordinator will report to the board of Gasyard Wall Feile and work closely with and support the Urban Villages Local Coordinator from the Executive Office in implementing programmes in the local area; and helping Gasyard Wall Feile and other stakeholders to shape project ideas and develop collaborative approaches which support good relations; build community capacity; foster positive community identities; and improve the physical environment.
