Simon Community NI are currently recruiting for a Floating Support Worker (Maternity Cover) in Portadown.

POST:                             Floating Support Worker (Maternity Cover)

REPORTS TO:               Floating Support Team Leader

LOCATION:                    Portadown

SALARY:                        NJC Points 16 – 20: £16, 937 – £19,012 per annum

DEPARTMENT:              Homelessness Services 

HOURS OF WORK:       35 hours per week to include evening & weekend work

JOB PURPOSE:  

Work as part of a floating support service providing a range of interventions to assist clients to maintain and sustain their tenancy. This will include supporting clients with complex needs through a client-centred outcomes-focused case management approach to empower all clients with the opportunity for self-determination and choice enabling them to:

• manage their domestic, personal and financial resources and develop independent living skills;
• make full use of available services and information and receive the maximum appropriate benefits through liaison with the Social Security Agency, Housing Benefit         Branch, NIHE;
• Maintain independent living.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

  1. Maths and English GCSE at Grade C OR an equivalent qualification.
  2. Six month recent full time equivalent experience (either paid or voluntary) of directly supporting people with complex and multiple needs within a residential or community setting gained within the last three years. Complex needs include the following areas: 
  • Homelessness Prevention
  • Substance Misuse
  • Offending
  • Mental Health
  • Young People
  1. Experience of identifying support needs, including client specific risks, and putting plans in place to support those ne
  2. IT skills Ability to use email, internet and databases to electronically record support work (within SCNI we use a client recording system called OSKA but previous use of this is not essential)  
  3. NISCC Registered (or subject to agreeing to become registered if appointed) and confirmation of willingness to be subject to ACCESS NI checks.
  4. Valid driving license and access to a car or other form of transport to undertake duties associated with the role.

 

DESIRABLE CRITERIA

  1. Accreditation or training in Housing Rights.
