Little Steps SureStart is a partnership project funded by the Department of Education to work in 3 ward areas in Antrim. Action for Children act as the lead body and the NHSCT as the accountable body.Little Steps SureStart provides a range of services to both children from pre-birth up to four years old and their families. The project facilitates a number of outreach and home visiting services from community venues across Antrim. Little Steps Sure Start comprises a multi-disciplinary team and works in close partnership with a range of local Statutory, Voluntary and Community groups to promote effective service delivery in response to the needs of the local families and children across the designated SureStart areas.

At Little Steps Sure Start, we strive for excellence in providing a stimulating and welcoming environment, working in partnership with parents and carers, to improve the outcomes for children and families who attend our services. An integrated management system is in place across both Little Steps and Ballymena Sure Start Projects, therefore at times, you will be required to work flexibly across other sites and venues within both Antrim and Ballymena.

 

How you'll make a difference:

 

By being responsible for the planning, development and delivery of individual and group based services, which support families in providing their children with the best start in life.

 

By undertaking a range of home visits including promotional visits, social, emotional and practical parenting support and / or developing play skills with children aged under 4 years and their parents.

 

By supporting families to attend centre-based services, facilitating various parenting support programmes and signposting families to other relevant services ensuring good links with local statutory and voluntary services.

 

By being responsible for ensuring targets are met as part of the project's business plan and having strong communication skills and the ability to work in a multi-disciplinary and inter agency context ensuring high standards of record keeping and communication with other professionals and support the team with individual work.

What you'll need:

Minimum level 3 NVQ in Childcare or equivalent relevant qualification with minimum 1 years' experience of working with children aged under 4 years.

 

Other requirements:

 

Previous experience in a family support (employed role) working directly with children and families

Demonstrate a sound understanding of best safeguarding practice.

Experience in safeguarding vulnerable children and how to provide appropriate and responsive services.

Experience of multi-disciplinary working.

Sound knowledge of child development, attachment and behaviour

Excellent communication skills to engage with a wide range of audiences including children, their families and other professional agencies

Strong IT and record keeping skills

Ability to drive for work purposes and access to a suitable method of transport
