The Oxfam Ireland Volunteer Office is looking for an enthusiastic, reliable volunteer to join the team to assist in the development and delivery our annual Volunteer Forum (March/April 2017) as well as assist in developing volunteer information platforms and databases. This role is suitable for applicants available for 2days+/week or an excellent opportunity for full-time work experience/ placement in a busy dynamic environment. A minimum commitment of 3 month is required.

 

Key Tasks

  • Research and shortlist potential venues to host the annual Oxfam Volunteer Forum

  • Support in developing and planning the events’ agenda

  • Communicate event information to Oxfam Ireland volunteers and staff

  • Manage event invitation and response process to confirm numbers for attendance

  • Maintain and update the Oxfam volunteer database

  • Assist in confirming internal staff and external providers’ attendance of the event

  • Assist in redevelopment of the volunteer section of the Oxfam Ireland website.

  • Support the development and distribution of new volunteer support and promotional materials

Skills and Experience Required

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Confident and polite telephone manner
  • Proficient in computer, and typing skills, online research and competent in the use of key Microsoft packages including; word, excel, outlook, PowerPoint
  • Ability to train in database management (CRM)
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage a variety of tasks
  • Reliable, tactful and trustworthy
  • Fluent English both written and oral

Benefits

  • Local travel costs to the office and any additional travel for volunteer duties can be fully reimbursed.
  • Lunch expenses can be claimed when volunteering more than five hours in a day.
