Big Schools Birdwatch - Fermanagh Volunteer
Our “Big Schools Birdwatch” programme gives children and young people the chance to experience birds first-hand through carrying out a survey in their school grounds.
Our programme is linked to the National Curriculum and fully risk assessed.
You would work with the class teacher to teach the children how to identify common school ground birds and help them record the numbers in a simple tally sheet. They will input their results with their teacher onto the RSPB website. You will provide simple advice on how to help the birds living in their school grounds.
The opportunity to help the RSPB make a real difference enriching the lives of young people and inspiring them to care and learn more about the natural world.
We'll give you training and shadowing experience to develop your knowledge and skills in helping children and their teachers get excited about, learn how to identify and help the amazing variety of common schools grounds birds living around them. We can potentially give you the skills to kick start a career in environmental/community education or the opportunity to share your existing skills and knowledge.

You have experience working with groups of children and can engage with children of all ages, with diverse needs and learning levels.
