Chatroom: What’s the Story? Free Creative Writing Workshop
The Crescent
Ulster Museum, Grainger Room
Free, drop-in event, no booking required.
Through this drop-in, hands-on workshop you will find inspiration in a funny & friendly creative writing session.
This unique roleplay-inspired workshop will give you the chance to make your heroes and villains interact with characters developed by other participants. By entering a fictional chatroom, you will become familiar with adopting different characters’ points of view and creating natural-sounding dialogue: test your protagonist’s best jokes, make another character fall in love, or be the worst villain you can imagine. You may even find some inspiration for your next story!
You will have the chance to try both an analogue “pen-and-paper” chatroom or an online chatroom specifically created for this event, which will be accessible by laptop and smartphone.
No experience is required for this drop-in event. You can “log-in” and “log-out” from the chatroom whenever you want, go to another workshop to find inspiration, and then come back to drop a line into the story!
A free pdf containing the stories created during the workshop will be available for participants some days after the workshop.
Kids must be accompanied by a parent/guardian at all times.
This workshop has been developed in partnership with the Crescent Arts Centre as a part of the Ulster Museum Createathon (25 March, 10am-4pm), within the framework of the Get Creative Festival (17-25 March 2018).
