The Belfast Mela is Northern Ireland’s biggest celebration of cultural diversity which encourages active attendance, interaction and entertainment from and for a diverse kaleidoscope of cultures. The Mela is about communities across the region being a part of something that represents their own cultural identity, and having a platform to connect their culture with the wider community.

Taking place on the 27th August at Botanic Park in Belfast, the Mela transforms the Park into a magical global garden filled with the sights, sounds and aromas of nations right around the world. Music, dance, arts and culture come together to create a heady, good humoured atmosphere which invites the world into the heart of our city.

We are looking for volunteers from all backgrounds to join us in creating this year’s Mela. Volunteers are integral to Artsekta and vital to the successful running of the Mela playing an important role within the team structure. There are a wide variety of opportunities including tasks ranging from artist liaison, production and technical assistants, volunteer supervisors, performance supervisors, hospitality assistants and much more! In addition to learning how a festival operates, all volunteers will receive a specialised health and safety training prior to the festival and volunteering at Mela will allow you to learn and develop new skills, be part of your community and connect with other cultures, meet a diverse range of people and boost your career options.

All volunteers receive free admission to the festival and a mela t-shirt!

If this sounds like something you would like to get involved with please contact Kerry Fitzsimmons on 028 9023 1381 or send her an email at [email protected]
