C and V organisations are invited to submit proposals to establish a Minority Ethnic Health and Social Wellbeing Network which will help reduce health inequalities for minority ethnic communities in Northern Ireland.

Voluntary and community organisations are now invited to submit proposals to the Public Health Agency (PHA) to establish a Minority Ethnic Health and Social Wellbeing Network which will help reduce health inequalities for minority ethnic communities in Northern Ireland.

The purpose of the Network is to facilitate regional cooperation and to develop a common resource which provides information on good practice, capacity building and expert knowledge on the health and social wellbeing needs of ethnic minorities for both health and social care staff and minority ethnic communities.

Through the network, members will be helped to identify the health and social wellbeing needs of ethnic minorities and to shape and inform the development of culturally sensitive services.

The Network is expected to lead to a more coordinated, inclusive, collaborative, responsive, efficient and effective approach to improving the health and social wellbeing of ethnic minority communities in Northern Ireland.

The PHA particularly welcomes proposals which:

  • build on existing networks and sources of support to enable a wide range of agencies, groups and individuals to link with each other, share minority ethnic health and social wellbeing information and good practice and to improve communication, collaboration and coordination;
  • demonstrate community involvement and partnership working.
