‘Diversity Challenges’ with the ‘Green and Blue’ project partners is inviting Tender Submissions for a feasibility report based on the the Storytelling project, and to propose how a drama commission may be developed as a continuation to Green and Blue.
Aim:
To develop a storytelling project, reflecting the co-operation and interaction between former members of the Royal Ulster Constabulary and former members of An Garda Siochána in the border region from the establishment of both Police Forces in 1922 to 2001.
‘A project supported by PEACE III Programme managed for the Special EU Programmes Body by the Community Relations Council/Pobal Consortium’.
‘Diversity Challenges’ requires a feasibility study for a planned development of ’The Green and the Blue’ project. Consequently we invite submissions from individuals/organisations to consider and submit a Tender specifically in terms of addressing the Outputs and Outcomes as outlined:
Project Specific Details:
- 1. Peace and Reconciliation Outcomes
People demonstrate a positive change in attitudes towards cross community and cross border activities.
People engaged with the project demonstrate improved levels of trust and tolerance within their community and or between communities
Different experiences, memories and legacies of the past have been acknowledged.

- Lead partner – ‘Diversity Challenges’ Coordinator Will Glenndinning.
- RUC George Cross Foundation
- International Police Association (Section Ireland)
Project outputs completed to date:
- Accredited training course in Storytelling for former Garda and RUC members
- Repository and archive of stories from the border region from members and their families
- Establishment of contemporary links between former members/colleagues
- Dedicated website
- Establish contacts and network with similar Storytelling projects
Tender submission:
‘Diversity Challenges’ intends to consider the feasibility of commissioning a script/contemporary drama based on the repository and archive of collected stories, with the aim of bringing the work of the project participants’ to a national and international audience.
‘Diversity Challenges’ in conjunction with the ‘Green and Blue’ project partners is inviting Tender Submissions for a feasibility report based on the ethics, principles and practices of the Storytelling project completed to date, and to propose how a drama commission may be developed as part of the next phase of the ‘Green and Blue’ project.
Submissions are invited from suitable qualified individuals/organisations addressing the Terms of Reference are as follows;
- Methodology/Approach that you propose for this commission for feasibility study including exploration of potential audiences.
- Demonstrable understanding of the role of Storytelling in Peace and Reconciliation projects, and specifically in terms of dealing with and acknowledging the past.
- Demonstrate Skills in creative projects that explore the stories of those who have been ‘overlooked’ and unheard, and specifically how this may be addressed through cultural programmes.
- Demonstrate skills in working with police and former police.
- Have a significant track record in the development and delivery of Community Relations programmes.
- An understanding in the development and delivery of community focused arts projects in N.I. and R o I
- An ability to work collaboratively and with a range of partners.
Be available to undertake the commission from June 2014 and complete with report to Project Management Group in September 2014 setting out options and possible costs.
The budget for the commission is a maximum of £5, 000 inclusive of VAT

Applications will be evaluated using the following criteria and associated scoring:
- Methodology 15%

- Skills in working those unheard 15%
- Working with police and former police 15%
- Track record community relations 10%
- Community arts N.I. and R o I 10%
- Partnership working 10%
- Cost 10%

Tenders to accept that the work can be completed within the time frame and the budget.
