Research and Policy Officer Temporary Contract

Claire Hanna MLA is seeking a motivated individual to carry out research and policy work as well as the creation and management of a database on a temporary basis to cover term time worker. £9.09/ hour 21 hours/week for 8 weeks.

Duties will include:

  • Carry out relevant research and policy work for Claire Hanna MLA
  • Assisting constituency officer with day to day activities including office administration, managing enquires from constituents and drafting correspondence
  • Creation and maintenance of database
  • Drafting correspondence and associated filing
  • Attending and taking minutes of meetings as required

 

Person Specification

Essential

  • Third level degree or 4 years’ relevant experience
  • Proven customer service and people skills
  • Minimum one-year experience working in relevant research- parliamentary, legislative, community, political
  • Minimum of two years working in an office environment
  • Good understanding of local political and government infrastructure
  • Good IT skills including MS Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Word
  • Good decision making and problem solving skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive data
  • Ability to work independently and on own initiative and good attention to detail
  • Positive understanding of the aims and objectives of the SDLP

 

Desirable

  • Experience of working with data packages and the creation and management of a database
  • Experience working in a legislative or policy environment
