Volunteer: Volunteer Fundraiser

Where, when and how often?

Fundraisers are needed thoughout the North and East of Northern Ireland. This includes Antrim and Ballymena, Belfast, Causeway, Down and Lisburn, East Antrim, Mid Ulster and North Down and Ards. It is a very flexible role and options can be discussed when you first meet with us.

What will I be doing?

Community fundraising is at the very centre of how we raise vital funds at a local level. The money we raise funds the delivery of universal services that include our website and National Dementia Helpline, as well as the services we provide locally such as Dementia Cafés, Carer Support Groups and Activity Groups. It also helps to fund research into the cause, cure, care and prevention of dementia, and our campaigning work.

Fundraisers are the local heroes of community fundraising. They spend their time, on an occasional or regular basis, helping with local events as diverse as coffee mornings and tea parties, fashion shows, collections in the high street or in private premises, music events, book stalls, auctions, festival or faith based events. The list is endless. Bring your ideas and get involved!

Where available you may be able to join a fundraising group that meets regularly to plan local activities and events. If this isn't available or it's not for you, we'll instead let you know by email, newsletter or telephone when there are events happening near you. Or you can arrange your own events. It's up to you.

Is this role for me?

This role may be ideal for you if you: - Have an interest in local fundraising - Are reliable, courteous and approachable - Are willing to comply with fundraising and cash handling expectations - Are comfortable communicating with people from different backgrounds - Are committed to the Society's expectations around values and behaviours.

Fundraisers must be over the age of 14. If the volunteer is under 18, parental consent is required.

How will I be supported during my volunteering?

Alzheimer's Society is committed to supporting volunteers in whatever role is carried out. For this role, you will be supported by the Community Fundraiser. You will receive relevant induction and training for the role. You also will be provided with one-to-one and/or group based support and will be reimbursed your agreed out-of-pocket expenses, in accordance with Society policy.
