Volunteering is about changing your own life as well as others

International volunteers change the lives of families in some of the world’s poorest communities and at the same time transform their own. We want you to make 2012 the year you change lives!

We are calling people from across Northern Ireland to get up and go Global Village in 2012, travelling to build communities in Cambodia, Mozambique, India, Ethiopia and Romania. Full details of opportunities below and to download an application form are available here>

Habitat ‘Open Teams’ provide volunteers an opportunity to come together with others whom they have never met to make a real difference and with the 13th February deadline fast approaching now is the time to sign-up!

Every minute 20 people die from conditions related to poverty housing and the number of people without a decent place to live continues to rise. The impact affects health, education, security; every aspect of life.

Travelling with Global Village to build homes in Mozambique, had a profound effect on Northern Ireland volunteer, Aaron Crookshanks.

“I went with the idea that we would be changing the lives of the people. They gave more to us than we could ever return. Faith, hope, humility, courage, strength and compassion – my life was enriched to an extent I may fail to do justice in words.”

As a Global Village volunteer, you will be helping families in need build their own way out of poverty. Your partnership will help raise awareness of the burden of poverty housing and help create a global village of community, homes and hope.

Global Village is a hands on experience;volunteers could be doing anything from digging foundations to laying bricks, raising frames to painting. There are jobs for everyone if you are prepared to pick up and hammer and help change lives.
