NSPCC and SPAR help Santa with some very special deliveries!

SPAR stores across Northern Ireland are delighted to be helping dreams come true by supporting this year’s NSPCC Letter from Santa campaign.

Treat the special child in your life to a magical, personalised letter from the North Pole by picking up a flier in a SPAR store near you and sending it off with a suggested donation of just £5 per child.

Samantha Livingstone, PR & Communications Manager from SPAR, said: “The NSPCC Letter from Santa is a great way to light up a child’s Christmas and SPAR is delighted to be involved once again this year. The appeal helps to raise vital funds for ChildLine, in order to support the children who are perhaps not as fortunate. It’s still not too late to order your letter, by picking up a flier from SPAR stores acrossNorthern Ireland.”

Caroline Weir, community fundraiser with NSPCC Northern Ireland, said: “When most of us are at home enjoying Christmas with our friends and family, ChildLine counsellors are available to listen to and support children and young people who want to talk about anything from family relationships to bullying and abuse.

“Last Christmas (24 December 2010 to 5 January 2011), ChildLine counsellors answered over 18,000 contacts, via telephone, email and 1-2-1 chats, from young people who needed someone to talk to.

“ChildLine's volunteer counsellors give up their time each Christmas, and throughout the year, to enable the charity’s helpline to stay open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.  This is why, in ChildLine’s 25th Anniversary year, we are aiming to raise £1.6 million through Letter from Santa to help make sure we can continue to be there for all children and young people whenever and however they need us.”
