New Youth Radio programme for North Down

"Beyond Skin and Holywood Family Trust are proud to announce the launch of a satellite Homely Planet radio youth team based in Holywood, North Down, Northern Ireland.

The young people will meet regularly to research, record and produce radio programmes exploring culture focusing in the North Down area assisted by the Beyond Skin team and Beat N Track audio technicians. Programmes will be broadcasted through the Homely Planet network and hosted on various social media platforms.

The Holyzone radio team have just put online their very first programme online, interviewing participants and organisers of the 2011 Peace Day event that was held at Forestside Shopping Centre in September.

Youth leader of the group, David Shaw said" the radio project has been a great success, the young people have developed new skills and really grown in confidence. I don't think the personal development work would have been possible in another project, its great to have the opportunity to see young people grow and mature in such a short period of time"

The first season of radio programmes are funded by North Down council good relations, Children In Need, Holywood Family Trust and the South Eastern Education and Library Board.

For more information or if you would like the radio team to cover your event or story in the North Down area, contact Beyond Skin [email protected] 07877756987"
