New helpline for patients.

Today the Patient and Client Council has opened a dedicated freephone, helpline for people in Northern Ireland to share their views and experiences of Accident and Emergency and Out of Hours services.

Maeve Hully, Chief Executive of the Patient and Client Council explains

“The Patient and Client Council is becoming increasingly aware of people’s concern about waiting times and experiences at Accident and Emergency Departments and Out of Hours services across Northern Ireland.

“This dedicated, confidential helpline will provide advice and support for anyone who wants to make a complaint, raise any issue or share an experience about Accident and Emergency and Out of Hours services.  People can also call the helpline to suggest ways in which services could be improved. The helpline telephone number is 0800 587 8863 and is free to call from landlines.”

The Patient and Client Council will continue to work with patients, to help inform Health and Social Care organisations so that services are delivered in the way that people want.
