BBC Broadcast Appeals – Talking about Loneliness

Broadcast Appeals have been part of the BBC’s work in Northern Ireland since 1927. These short programmes seek to profile the work of local charities. They are broadcast throughout the year on local radio and television and are also available online. We also run an extended Christmas-time Appeal focussing on a particular issue or theme – most recently the needs of older people with Age NI.

We are now inviting local charities to work with BBC Northern Ireland on its December 2017 Appeal. It will look at issues around loneliness, including its impact on people of all ages and backgrounds. We want to highlight how people can both access and provide support in dealing with the effects of loneliness and to raise awareness about it. Our on-air campaign will involve interviews, features, discussions and reports. And we will also be creating two short promotional films for BBCNI television.

This Appeal won’t be for fundraising purposes as these opportunities already exist within our general Appeals programming. Editorial, technical and other support will be available from the BBC.

We are inviting joint applications from charities with expertise in this area and which operate on a region-wide basis.
