Local Whitehead artist, Bob Paisley, has generously donated a number of his orignal paintings and art work to the Ulster Cancer Foundation (UCF).

The paintings are currently on display at the Ulster Cancer Foundation offices,40-44 Eglantine Avenue,Belfastand all are available for sale with prices starting at just £25.

Bob, who is originally from Antrim, taught art for many years at Carrick Grammar School before being appointed examining officer for art and design at CCEA.  After his retirement he continued to paint and has held many exhibitions of his work.

Speaking about the donation, Bob said, “Later this month, my wife Janice and I emigrate toAustralia- we lived and taught inAustraliain the mid 1960s so it feels very much like we’re heading home.  We’ve been clearing out in preparation for our move and I didn’t realise that I had so many paintings, created over the years.

“Unfortunately we simply can’t take them all with us so we thought that it would be a great idea to donate the paintings to a charity, where they could be sold to generate funds.

“Sadly Janice’s sister Ros passed away from ovarian cancer at the age of 50 so supporting the Ulster Cancer Foundation is a cause very close to our hearts.  We hope that the sale of the paintings will go some way to support the work of this local cancer charity.

Pauline Wylie, PR & Events Manager with UCF said, “We are thrilled that Bob has generously donated his paintings.  This is an ideal opportunity for people to purchase an original piece of art whilst at the same time raising funds for the Ulster Cancer Foundation.

“All money generated from the sale of the paintings will be used to provide much needed services for cancer patients and their families inNorthern Ireland.  Our services include family support, art therapy, creative writing, support groups, information and support helpline, counselling, walking groups, Zest for Life programme as well as a bra and swimwear fitting service.  All our services are provided free of charge and help hundreds of local people during their journey with cancer every year.

“We rely almost entirely on voluntary donations in order to carry out our work and every year we need to raise almost £4m so Bob’s support is very greatly appreciated.”

Prices for the paintings start at £25 for small, £50 for medium and £75 for large.  The paintings will be on display until Wednesday 21st December.
