Health and Transport Fair Comes to Lurgan.

_

The Patient and Client Council, who provides an independent voice for patients, clients, carers and communities on health and social care issues, along with ABC Community Network and the Consumer Council invites you to a Health and Transport Fair on Thursday 8th March, at 10am in the Jethro Centre, Lurgan.

Stella Cunningham from the Patient and Client Council explains,

“When we talk to people about health and social care, transport is raised as a concern, particularly in rural areas.  It is often an essential part of accessing services.  We hope people attending the Fair can share their views on how transport and healthcare can work together to help the public access all important services.  Information will be available from transport providers and health and social care providers including the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service and the Southern Health and Social Care Trust.

John McGuinness of ABC Network commented,

“It’s essential that community groups and individuals advise the Patient and Client Council about their experiences and what their health and social care transport needs are to help inform the subsequent development of services.”

Ryan Simpson from the Consumer Council, said,

"An affordable, accessible and joined up public transport system is essential to ensure people can fully avail of health care services, especially those who do not have access to a car. This Health and Transport Fair provides an opportunity for the public to find out about a range of transport services which are available and how to access them. The event also allows you to tell the Consumer Council about the transport issues you face and how we can work to address these".

Transport will be available from Armagh, Banbridge, Dungannon and Newry.  To register to attend or to book a transport, call Ruth 028 3834 9900 or email [email protected]

If you can’t make it on the day, you can still share your views on transport and health and social care by completing a short questionnaire on the Patient and Client Council website, the Consumer Council website or the ABC Community Network website.  Hard copies are also available from the Patient and Client Council by calling 028 3834 9900.
