Barnardo's school based counselling service wins top award for innovation

Barnardo's NI 'Time 4 Me' school based counselling service has been recognised with a British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) Award for Innovation.

Barnardo's NI 'Time 4 Me' school based counselling service began in 2008 and is the first service of its kind in NI to focus on the counselling needs of primary school children. Since its launch Time 4 Me has worked with 43 schools and 900 pupils throughout Northern Ireland.

The Innovation Award from BACP recognises innovative work within counselling and psychotherapy whcih has challenged thinking, stimulated debate or encouraged the adoption of new techniques.

The award was presented by actress and comedienne Ruby Wax.

 Dave Stewart, Time 4 Me Manager,said,"Winning this award will help Barnardo's reach more children, families and schools in Northern Ireland. The award is a wonderful recognition of over three year's hard work and imagination by the team in shaping a service which responds to the needs of children."
