The Ulster Cancer Foundation’s (UCF) Ballymena breast cancer support group is holding its next meeting on Wednesday 7th March at 7.30pm in St John House, 11a Corlea Gardens, Ballymena.

Support groups are complementary to any ongoing medical treatment and aim to help patients develop a holistic approach to living with cancer. Heather Banford, Cancer Information Nurse, UCF will be facilitating the meeting and local representatives from the PSNI will be attending to discuss personal safety and crime awareness.

Deirdre Conlon, Care Services Manager, UCF said, “The support group is open to anyone who has breast cancer as well as carers, family and friends and we extend a very warm welcome to all new members.  There is no commitment to attend each session and everyone is welcome to come as often and for as long as they wish.

“The support group meetings are informal and there is no pressure to speak about your experiences; you can just come along and listen to what is being said.   Patients in the past have gained a lot from talking to people who are in, or have been in, a similar situation as this can help to reduce feelings of anxiety, fear and isolation and improve quality of life.”

Light refreshments will also be available. For furtherinformation or to confirm your attendance please contact Eileen Creery at UCF on Tel. 028 9068 0742.
