Young Person's Worker

 

Location: Belfast

Hours: Part-Time (working 22.2 hours a week) during term time only on a fixed term contract until March 2020.

Salary: Circa £16,500 per annum, pro rata

1 in 10 children in every classroom suffer from a diagnosable mental health disorder. The Blues is an evidenced based CBT influenced programme to support the reduction of depression in young people using an early intervention model. Through our successful partnership with Royal Mail we are able to deliver the Blues programme to 15-18yr old young people in schools, colleges and sixth forms across Belfast and surrounding areas until the end of March 2020.

 

The Blues programme is a vital part of our work. We are looking for a motivated Young Persons Worker who is committed to supporting young people's mental health to deliver this service in Belfast. You will be part of a national programme across Action for Children's four nations.

 

This post is available as a fixed term contract or secondment (with agreement of your present line manager) until March 2020 and would be working 22.2 hours a week. The exact hours are negotiable but will need to meet the needs of the service.

 

How you'll make a difference:

By supporting the delivery group work to around 500 young people as year as a team

By supporting young people's skills in order to manage their own emotional wellbeing

By working in partnership with schools and colleges

 

What you'll need:

    • Experience in youth work, working with families, childcare or other relevant field
    • Experience of working with young people aged 15-18
    • A commitment to supporting young people's mental health
    • A full current driving licence and access to a car with business insurance. The job requires the ability to travel according to the needs of the job, with reasonable adjustments, if required, according to the Equality Act.
