HELP A YOUNG PERSON BECOME INDEPENDENT IN 2015

Can you or someone you know, be inspired to take the opportunity to support a young person as part of a new, exciting and innovative model?
Do you have a spare bedroom?

Action for Children are recruiting self-employed hosts to provide emergency accommodation for young homeless people between the ages of 16-21  (up to 24 if deemed appropriate)   These supported lodgings providers must be willing to provide a safe and secure environment, an evening meal, bathing and laundry facilities and breakfast the following morning. In return a daily allowance will be paid.

We are also looking for hosts who can provide more permanent accommodation for a young person and be willing to develop their independent living skills on our supported lodgings scheme. Again you must have a spare bedroom and be willing to provide a stepping stone for a young person to stay until they’re ready to live on their own.
Young people can stay between 3 months to two years. In return host providers will receive an allowance per young person. (Maximum of two young people per household)

You can expect to be fairly recruited, thoroughly supported and fully trained to carry out this role. We have experienced staff and a 24 hour on call service to support you.

We value diversity and believe that having a workforce with a rich mix of backgrounds, knowledge and skills, enhances our ability to deliver high quality services to the broadest range of children, young people and families and more closely reflect the diversity that exists in the communities they work within.

Contact us on 028 94 467345 and we can either come and see you for an informal chat about the scheme, or invite you to one of our information evenings.

As the service is currently running on a pilot area basis, applications can only be accepted, at this time, from people living within the Northern and Western Health and Social Care trust areas.  We will particularly welcome any applicants who are currently residing within the Enniskillen/Omagh area, Larne, Newtownabbey and Carrickfergus areas.
