Lisnaskea-based South East Fermanagh Foundation (SEFF) is seeking to recruit a sessional Welfare/Benefits Appeals Officer who will provide a service for victims/survivors of the 'Troubles' in rolling out its’ services covering the 2017-2020 period.

Position:

To provide Welfare Appeals advice and representation over 2017/2020 period as follows, across the following areas:

 

Year 1 (01/07/2017 - 31/03/2018)

SEFF, Lisnaskea: 100 hrs

MUVE Project, Cookstown: 25 hrs

Out of the Shadows Group, Richhill: 25 hrs

South and East Tyrone Welfare Support Group, Moygashel. Dungannon: 25 hrs

 

Years 2 and 3 (01/04/2018 - 31/03/2019 and 01/04/2019 - 31/03/2020) Figures below are per annum:

SEFF, Lisnaskea: 125 hrs

MUVE Project, Cookstown: 25 hrs

Out of the Shadows Group, Richhill: 25 hrs

South and East Tyrone Welfare Support Group, Moygashel. Dungannon: 25 hrs

The service will be flexible and delivered as per needs of service users (to be mutually agreed between provider and SEFF)

 

Requirements of Post:

Applicants must have completed and passed a relevant CAB, Law Centre or other equivalent qualification attained through a recognised provider demonstrating competence to provide Appeals and Tribunal Representation and have a minimum of six month’s experience having offered the service to clients/individuals.

Applicants must also have a good knowledge and be competent in dealing with the Social Security Benefits system (including the wholesale changes brought about via the Universal Credits System and PIP - Personal independence Payment) and have good knowledge and experience of working and dealing with other comparable and parallel benefits/funds.

Previous experience in supporting innocent victims and survivors of terrorism and other Troubles related criminal violence would be advantageous.

The Officer appointed is responsible for costs associated with his/her own insurance, travel, tax and other related contributions and required offline supervision.

The role demands the highest levels of professionalism and observance of SEFF’s strict Confidentiality and Data Protection Policies and Procedures.
