Support Worker Salary: £8.00 per hour, £16,224 per annum pro rata. Alternative contract terms available.

Where the role requires sleep ins, a minimum additional payment of £32.85 per night applies.

Position Summary

To provide appropriate high quality care and support to Service Users in their own home or supportive living environment in a way that respects their dignity and rights, and enables them to maximise their independence and extend the right to choices in all areas of their lives.

Responsibilities and Duties

Be aware of the needs of each Service User, their abilities, aspirations, goals and desired outcomes.

Promote individuals independence and choice and maximise outcomes.

To participate in, and undertake needs assessments, support / care planning, review meetings and assessments and ensure that plans are followed.

To follow the principles of Person centred service delivery in all that you do.

Assist Service Users with mobility problems and other physical disabilities, intellectual or sensory impairments and support them in the use of care aids and personal equipment in order to maximise their mobility and independence.

To assist / support Service Users who need help with personal care such as dressing, bathing, personal hygiene etc were necessary and appropriate and in accordance with support / care plan  (where applicable).

Participate in the administration and monitoring of medication (where applicable).

Support Service Users to develop a range of life and independent living skills, such as: cooking, laundry, budgeting, personal hygiene and well being etc.

Support and assist Service Users in developing a range of social, educational, occupational and leisure activities in order to achieve their aspirations / outcomes.

To encourage, support and assist Service Users to access and engage in their local communities and make use of general community facilities.  This will include supporting people to use public transport and were appropriate driving Praxis Care Vehicles or employees own vehicle for work purposes.

Minimum Requirements

Effective literacy and numeracy skills

Candidates should be registered, or applying for registration, with the NI Social Care Council.

An understanding of the principles of choice, privacy, dignity and respect

Ability to carry out personal care to male or female customers

Ability to demonstrate organisational skills & good time management

Ability to transfer observations and actions in accurate legible written reports 

Flexible approach to work – to include evenings and weekends and additional sleep-in duties

Full valid drivers licence.
