Suicide Prevention Information Officer

The post is funded by the Public Health Agency until 31 March 2013. The postholder will work directly with EBCDA’s Community Support Manager, Health Development Workers, and East Belfast community groups to share information on suicide prevention.

Role

  • To act as an immediate point of contact for communities within East Belfast and in regard to providing access and information on relevant suicide prevention and mental health service provision.

Duties

  • To refer/signpost individuals/families to appropriate mental health services that best meet their needs.
  • To develop close relationships with relevant statutory, community/voluntary organisations.
  • To represent community interests at various local and regional inter-agency fora in relation to suicide prevention and mental health.
  • To work with East Belfast Survivors of Suicide group to help represent their views and needs.
  • Collation and writing of reports
  • Other duties as requested by the Agency

Time Commitment
The usual working day will be 9.00am to 4.00pm Monday to Thursday but given the nature of EBCDA’s work and volunteers working within various communities the post holder may be expected to work outside these hours from time to time.  Time in lieu will be available for such hours worked.

Remuneration The salary will be £18,090.84 per annum for 25 hours per week with a cost of living increase payable on 1st April each year, subject to funding.

Location
The post holder will be based at East Belfast Community Development Agency, 269 Albertbridge Road, Belfast.
