Studentship in Youth Work

36.00

This is a studentship programme funded by the EA and we will recruit one student who will receive onsite training to work with 'hard to help' young people. The student will also undertake a concentrated degree programme with Ulster University for 3yrs

St. Peters Immaculata Youth Centre is a small registered charity operating in Divis.  We work with young people aged 8-18 years of age offering social and personal development opportunities using non-formal educational methodologies.  We are seeking to recruit a person over 18 years of age with an interest in a career in professional youth work.  The studentship comes with a £15,000 annual bursary to cover cost of living, travel, books etc.  The person will be required to attend Ulster University to undertake a concentrated degree programme.  The person we are seeking will have to be highly motivated, academically capable and willing to commit to three years of study.

It should be noted that this position has specific targets both for the person we are recruiting including the building of capacity within the youth centre staff team and also engaging young people involved in self-harming behaviours, so that the staff can work better with 'harder to help' young people.  They will be expected to be work late nights, weekends and undertake residential work as required.

This position requires the recruit to work over the summer months for both University and practice placement as part of this position.  There is no scope for leave this summer (2017) due to the study demands and this will only be considered after 30th September.
