Project Worker - Foyle Haven (6 months Fixed Term)

Our aim is to work with those who are socially excluded and marginalised by providing a quality led service in order to produce the best possible outcomes for those accessing our services. We work in partnership with central and local government, housing associations and other non-governmental organisations.

Project Worker – Foyle Haven Day Centre – HSS16/11

Fixed Term –for 6 months

Location: Derry/L’Derry

35hrs per week

Salary: 16,230

Location: Foyle Haven is a comprehensive and integrated service providing assistance and support to street drinkers. Each service user is encouraged to make use of all the relevant services and to participate in social activities within the centre.  The day centre provides practical assistance including hot meals, access to showers and laundry facilities and a programme of regular social activities.

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic individual who is committed to providing a high quality of support to our vulnerable client group.  The ideal candidate will have at least one year’s paid or 2 years voluntary experience working in the homelessness field or another related area. An understanding of the needs of street drinkers or people suffering from substance misuse as well as an understanding of the challenges of Low threshold working.   They should demonstrate excellent communication skills, computer literacy and the ability to work as part of a team. A knowledge of the issues facing marginalised groups is essential . A qualification in a Health and social science related field is desirable.
