Project Director

The Big House exists to help young people to know God's love as they encounter Jesus and are cared for by the church, especially when they dealing with difficult issues or circumstances.

We do this primarily by providing camps and weekends, meeting with young people and their youth groups, and training and supporting youth leaders. We are seeking a Project Director who is passionate about young people, and their pastoral care, to lead this organisation as we plan to grow our work for the future.

The Project Director is responsible, under the Board of Directors, for the development and operation of The Big House. They will be responsible for delivering the programmes of The Big House through a team of staff and volunteers and will have responsibility for pioneering research, developing new programmes and planning youth leader training programmes. They will be responsible for managing the core team of staff and volunteers and for maintaining the Christian focus of The Big House alongside the Board of Directors. The Project Director will also be involved in drafting and implementing organisational policies and procedures and in speaking and networking on behalf of The Big House.

The successful candidate will have strong leadership skills and excellent communication skills. They will be a reflective practitioner with experience of leading, planning and delivering Christian faith-based youth work including short-term residential programmes and training for youth leaders. They must also be in full agreement with the aims and ethos of The Big House.

The hours of work are 21 hours per week. This post will report to the Board of Directors and will be based at The Big House Office, 1st Floor, Cafe Grace, 12-14 Elmwood Avenue, Belfast BT9 6AY.
