To be responsible for the care and education for the under five’s in the Early Years Facilities of the Ballybeen Women’s Centre.

This post is to cover maternity leave and is from mid-June 2017 to mid-March 2018.  The salary is £15,712.32 per annum.  It is 35 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 9.00 am - 4.00 pm.  Closing date has been extended to 28 April 2017 at 12.00 pm.  Interviews will be held on Wednesday 03 May 2017.

Job Responsibilities

Work as part of a team to develop & maintain a programme of activities, which meet the needs of the children & apply with the DENI Pre-school curriculum.  Ability to work on own initiative.  Encourage & support children to become involved.  Be aware of the individual child’s needs & level of development.  Ensure equipment & resources are well maintained.  Meet administrative duties regarding DENI & Social Services.  Communicate regularly with parents regarding the needs & progress of their children & liaise with professionals.  Assist with the organisation & implementation of fundraising activities.  Participate in training.  Help devise & implement actions plans & adhere to these.  Ensure all records are maintained & kept up to date.  Work with staff in developing specialist work.  Deal with any complaints/concerns from parents in the first instance, where necessary refer to Early Years Manager.  Work as part of a team to offer additional support to children with specialist needs.

Job Specification

Minimum Level III Diploma in Children’s Care, Learning and Development & good standard of general education.  Have 12 months direct work with children under 5yrs.  Be able to develop & implement programmes for children.  Knowledge & application of child protection recognition & procedures.  Have undertaken training in legislation & requirements relevant to Children & Social Care; Risk Assessment (Health & Safety) & First Aid.  Be able to communicate effectively with professionals, parents & colleagues. Be able to record & write reports & also plan, prioritise & time manage.  Have knowledge of child development, human growth & development & involvement in assessment of children’s needs.  Knowledge of behaviour management & principles of effective assessment & care planning.  Knowledge of networks & resources available to children & their families.  Be able to promote equal opportunity & anti-discriminatory practice.
