An exciting new soft indoor play centre ‘Roar and Explore’ is opening its doors in Belfast in December 2017 and we are currently putting our team in place.

a Play Centre Assistant

We are looking for positive, friendly, outgoing, customer focused individuals to join our team on a full-time, part-time and casual basis which will include weekends.

Our main aim is to give our customers a fun and memorable experience at ‘Roar and Explore’.

We have several fantastic opportunities for team members to perform a variety of tasks associated with the general running of Roar and Explore. Duties will include:

  • Assisting and serving customers in a cheerful and friendly manner.
  • Helping maintain a safe environment by cleaning as you go and avoiding unsafe behaviours, enhancing visitors’ experience of ‘Roar and Explore’ and supporting the team.

It will also involve performing the various tasks required in a busy café including operating coffee machines, tills and dishwashers as well as clearing tables, brushing floors and other tasks as required.

Job Purpose

To assist in the day to day running of the soft play centre and cafe, continually offering a high level of customer service to all customers

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Working on reception and using electronic till (handling cash and card payments);
  • Ensuring all adults and children are made aware of the ‘rules of play’ and safety issues when entering the play area;
  • Answering customer queries in a friendly and polite manner;
  • Supervising the soft play area and providing general assistance for children who may require assistance or be unsure of the playframe;
  • Assisting in the café – taking orders, serving customers and clearing tables; operating coffee machines, tills and dishwashers as and well as brushing floors and other tasks as required.
  • Hosting parties – welcoming a group to a party function, overseeing, making sure the schedules are being kept, serving party food, and making sure everyone feels they know what is going on and is happy and having fun;
  • Ensuring that equipment and facilities are kept in accordance with health and safety regulations and are used in an appropriate way;
  • Responding to feedback to continually improve the customer experience
  • Cleaning (including playframe and toilets). Every staff member will be responsible for ensuring a high level of cleanliness at all times throughout the whole of Roar and Explore;

  • Providing a high level of customer service to all customers entering and exiting the play area.
  • Carrying out any other duties within the needs of the business.

Personal Specifications

Essential Criteria

Experience

  • 6 months proven experience of working in a people focused role in a paid or voluntary capacity – e.g. customer service, retail, leisure, childcare or similar.

Skills

  • Proven organisational skills with the ability to multi-task
  • Proven ability to work in a team with a supportive and can-do attitude
  • Ability to comply with legislation and follow all centre rules and procedures
  • Proven IT skills
  • Proven social and verbal communication skills

Other

  • Can demonstrate a friendly and customer focused approach to work
  • Can demonstrate a reliable, hardworking, punctual and enthusiastic approach to work
  • Available to work flexibly including weekends as required
  • The successful candidate will be required to undergo an enhanced check via the Access (NI) Service.

Desirable Criteria

  • First Aid Qualification
  • 12 months proven experience of working in a people focused role – e.g. customer service, retail, leisure or childcare.
  • Proven experience of using an electronic till and cash handling
  • Proven experience in a café environment
