Job Description

Are you interested in being a Peer Researcher at Mencap?

We currently have two vacancies within Mencap, across NI

Salary: up to £900 for 60 hours work

What is the Project?

The Project is being run by Mencap, Praxis and Queen’s University Belfast. It is funded by Disability Research on Independent Living and Learning (DRILL) through the Big Lottery Fund. The aim of the Project is to find out more about people’s experiences of making decisions – what helps, what isn’t helpful. The findings of the Project will inform how the new Mental Capacity Act (Northern Ireland) 2016 will work in practice.

To be considered for this role you must meet the essential criteria listed below:

  • Have a learning disability
  • Willing to travel access Northern Ireland
  • Available weekdays, evenings and weekends
  • Able to commit to up to 60 hours work over the duration of the project (must commit to one full weeks training in either September or October)
  • Basic Literacy
  • Effective Communicator
