NICIE operates a team of professional officers that deliver the key targets outlined in the organisation’s strategic plan. The post will provide support for a range of functions within NICIE but will have responsibility for a number of activities.

MAIN ACTIVITIES

Advice & Guidance

  • Assist in the provision of advice and support to the Chief Executive Officer, Senior Development Officers (SDO), Boards of Governors, Principals, NICIE Directors and other stakeholders in integrated education
  • Deal with general enquiries relating to integrated education
  • Respond to queries from schools
  • Arrange the dissemination of documented guidance to integrated schools

Support role

New projects – growth and expansion of integrated schools

  • Act as the designated NICIE representative for specific new integrated school projects either through the transformation of an existing school, the establishment of a Grant Maintained Integrated (GMI) school or the development of integrated pre-school settings
  • Under the guidance of an SDO, draft and implement the project programme and provide assistance to parent groups, staff and Boards of Governors through the phases of the programme

Existing schools

  • Where appropriate act as the designated NICIE representative to integrated schools, providing general information, advice and guidance on matters of an administrative nature

NICIE Committees

  • Act as the designated NICIE officer for at least one NICIE committee e.g. Teacher’s Committee; Vice Principal’s Committee; Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator’s Committee (SENCo);

Research and fact finding

  • Undertake background research and fact-finding under SDO direction; obtain information on similar issues/subjects produced by other bodies in the education or community sectors.
  • Interpret and present research data in a range of formats to support specific areas of NICIE’s work, including strategic planning and the submission of development proposals

Training

  • Assist the SDO to identify needs and gaps in the current training provision in schools and liaise with other training providers as appropriate
  • Under SDO direction commission and manage NICIE Panel of Associates (PoA) to deliver aspects of NICIE training programmes
  • Contribute towards the delivery of training, arrange courses and seminars, organise in-house courses and participate in training delivery for teachers, governors and parents
  • As appropriate, deliver or facilitate bespoke training for a range of audiences as part of support programmes for the following;
    • new school projects (through transformation and GMI routes)
    • existing integrated schools
    • schools involved in partnering

Representation/Liaison

  • Liaise with other bodies in the education field under SDO’s direction
  • Attend meetings as directed by SDO and according to the needs of the NICIE

Promotional & awareness raising activities

  • Deliver presentations on NICIE’s work to local and overseas audiences
  • Under SDO guidance draft press releases/articles which highlight the activities of NICIE

Evaluation and report writing

  • Carry out evaluations and report findings on a range of activities producing reports as and when required for the purposes of progressing the aims of the organisation

Miscellaneous

  • Carry out other appropriate duties as may be required
