Young Enterprise are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic individual to co-ordinate relationships between schools and business volunteers to ensure the high quality delivery of enterprise programmes to young people in the North East area.

Young Enterprise, the leading business education charity helps around 90,000 young people aged 4-25 each year to understand how business works, delivering its programmes in schools and colleges throughout the country, supported by a network of volunteers from the world of business.

The successful candidate must be motivated, professional, work effectively within a team and be self-managing, possessing the ability to manage their own time and work independently. 

The Development Officer will coordinate relationships between schools and business volunteers to participate in our programmes to ensure the high quality delivery of enterprise programmes to young people aged 4 – 25 in the North East area. The post holder will be based in an office in either Newtownabbey or Ballymena with travel across the North East area to include Ballymena, Antrim, Carrickfergus, Newtownabbey, Ballymoney and Magherafelt (and other areas as required) to meet with volunteers and schools. The role is part time and the salary is pro rata.  The hours of work will be 25 hours per week.  (Working pattern flexible.)

The successful candidate must demonstrate the following:

Essential criteria:

 

  • Third level education e.g. HND, degree and one year’s relevant experience; or three years’ relevant experience (please refer to job description)

 

  • At least 6 months’ experience of regularly working with young people on a day-to-day basis (either in a voluntary or employed capacity)

 

  • An understanding of the importance of volunteers

 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

 

  • Excellent organisational, planning and time management skills and a willingness to carry out a wide variety of tasks

 

  • Competency in the use of the following:  Excel; Word; PowerPoint; and databases

 

  • A positive ‘can-do’ attitude that will enthuse prospective and current supporters, colleagues and volunteers

 

  • Access to a car/own transport facilities and where applicable, a current valid driving licence and willing to travel across North East area and other areas as required.

 

 

Desirable Criteria:

 

 

  • Experience of volunteer management, training and recruitment

 

  • Experience of networking in the business and/or education sector in Northern Ireland

 

  • Evidence of successfully meeting targets and deadlines

 

  • Recognised relevant training or facilitation qualification.
