To recruit, train and support volunteers to facilitate the “In Touch” Project. Identify beneficiaries and match to volunteers for both 1-1 support and “In Touch” groups providing information and befriending activities throughout Northern Ireland.
• Ensure delivery of a programme of information support and befriending activities through use of volunteers in the form of:
1. one-to-one and group befriending
2. information talks to community groups and in residential care settings
3. hearing health training to care staff
• To work with Team Leader to plan activities, meet project objectives and monitor and evaluate “the In Touch” programme.
• Provide regular progress reports to Managers on targets and project expenditure in line with funding requirements to enable project review.
• Full management of volunteers including all recruitment administration, assigning tasks appropriately, and monitoring progress of assignments, providing support as needed.
• To raise awareness of the benefits of the In Touch Project to deaf people and people with hearing loss and network to promote referrals from local statutory and voluntary agencies.
• To contribute to the effective, timely and active promotion of the project, designing and distributing marketing material and information to ensure the service is well publicised.
• To signpost and refer clients to appropriate local services.
• To carry out the duties and responsibilities of the post at all times in compliance with all of Action on Hearing Loss’s policies, but especially Equal Opportunities and Health and Safety.
• Demonstrate commitment to and participation to all training and other development opportunities that would allow progress within current roles, as well as allow progress within the organisation.
