The Home:

A 45 bed purpose built care home situated in Hillsborough , the home provides quality care for older people in need of general nursing.

The Opportunity:

As Manager you will become a critical part of the success of the Home, working across all aspects of care; the role gives a great opportunity to take managerial and leadership responsibilities whilst continuing to deliver clinical care.

Reporting to the General Manager and Executive committee, you will:

  1. Supervise the professional work of all staff and ensure that individual patient care provided is of the highest standard and that staff work to the standards of their regulatory body where appropriate.
  2. Monitor the standards of care being provided through spot inspections and the working of regular shifts and taking appropriate action when agreed standards of care are not being met.
  3. Ensures the Home procedures in particular regarding health and safety, fire, sickness/absenteeism are known by staff and adhered to at all time.
  4. Ensure the provision of an effective communications system.
  5. Have regard for the effective utilisation of resources (including staff) to ensure the most effective use of and work within set budgets and or industry standards.
  6. Is responsible for the recruitment selection and appointment of all staff in the home.
  7. Provide counsel for all staff as required.
  8. Instigate and maintain an effective Induction Programme for all staff.
  9. Keep abreast of all current developments i.e. legislation, health board requirements which may affect the management of the home and the delivery of services.
  10. Provide or obtain such reports/returns that are required both on a regular an irregular basis.
  11. Responsible for adhering to the N.M.C., Health Board’s and home’s policy for the safe custody, administration, disposal and recording of all pharmaceutical products held within the home.
  12. Responsible for investigating and reporting any accidents, incidents and complaints.
  13. Responsible for ensuring that any accidents or incidents are adequately documented.
  14. Responsible for ensuring that all clients receive adequate medical care.
  15. Ensure that a satisfactory service is provided by efficient planning and allocation of work.
  16. Keeping, giving and receiving up to date reports on all residents.
  17. Keeping all other records up to date.
  18. Ensuring that any maintenance which may be required is promptly attended to.
  19. Responsible for liaising with community services and maintaining a good rapport.
  20. Responsible for liaising with the health board home inspectorate staff and to maintain a good working relationship with them.
  21. Responsible for keeping the General Manager informed and updated on developments which occur within the home.
  22. Responsible for the allocation and deployment of staff and ensuring adequate cover is maintained in the event of absenteeism.
