The NI Fundraising and Marketing Officer is responsible for delivering outreach to grow, inspire, as well as strengthen relationships, with key audience groups, to drive public income in the North of Ireland.

The NI Fundraising and Marketing Officer is responsible for delivering outreach to grow, inspire, as well as strengthen relationships, with key audience groups, to drive public income in the North of Ireland. Key focuses for the role include; delivering engaging and innovative fundraising outreach to schools and parishes, as well as, supporting the management and training of volunteers and community fundraisers to develop the fundraising and outreach capacity of Trócaire in the North. They will work closely with dynamic teams across the organisation to deliver on their objectives and targets including; the Northern Ireland Regional Office, the Fundraising and Marketing team in Maynooth, the school segment team and the volunteer working group.

Reporting to the Campaigns Officer in Northern Ireland with dotted line to Fundraising and Marketing Coordinator, Maynooth. This is a temporary contract for the specified purpose of maternity leave cover and is based in Belfast Office[1]. The incumbent will have dotted line management responsibility to the Fundraising and Donors Assistant, and occasional supervisory duties for student placements.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

    • Develop and deliver school fundraising presentations (suitable for primary and post-primary audiences) suitable for the Northern Ireland market, to inspire income growth for Trócaire’s Lent campaign and emergency appeals.
    • Work collaboratively with the NI Education Officer, the North West Development Officer and the Schools Segment team in the ongoing development and implementation of the schools engagement strategies for both the primary and post-primary sectors.
    • Maintain and develop key fundraising relationships with teachers and schools across the North; including the facilitation of overseas partner and staff visits to schools.
    • Develop and deliver outreach to church audiences in the North of Ireland; including the delivery of fundraising talks at masses on Trócaire’s Lent campaign and delivering inspiring fundraising presentations to church groups. 
    • Develop and strengthen relationships with key church stakeholders to strengthen the delivery of Trócaire’s major fundraising campaigns, including Lent and Emergency Appeals.
    • Support the coordination and implementation of Trócaire’s volunteer programme in the north of Ireland, including training and development, as well as ensuring effective communication with Trócaire volunteers on Trócaire’s fundraising campaigns
    • Increase the fundraising capacity and levels of outreach being delivered by Trócaire volunteers in the North.
    • Drive the delivery of flagship community fundraising initiatives, including Trócaire’s presence at the Belfast marathon and fundraising presence at larger community events
    • Supporting community fundraisers organising fundraising events for Trócaire, while exercising sound judgement with regard to the appropriateness of events.
    • Fully utilise Trócaire’s CRM system, Salesforce, to include capturing of all fundraising outreach, relationships with supporters and others, working with reports to support decision making, and taking part in training as necessary.
    • Support existing fundraising and marketing initiatives within Northern Ireland, to include above and below the line activities. 
    • Work collaboratively within the Belfast team and the Fundraising and Marketing team to plan, organise and deliver Trócaire’s fundraising initiatives, adapting to suit the Northern Ireland market.
    • Innovate, with an emphasis on digital innovation, within existing projects and present new project proposals to management to increase income.
    • Actively observe new developments and trends in digital fundraising, to ensure Trócaire has immediate access to knowledge and information in these areas.
    • As a dotted line manager, work collaboratively with the Donor Services Officer in the coordination of the work of the Fundraising & Donors Assistant.
    • Operate within agreed budgets, ensuring value for money and good stewardship of resources.
    • Participate and actively contribute to the following team meetings; fundraising and marketing team, Northern Ireland region team, volunteer working group and school segment team.
    • Represent Trócaire at relevant meetings, conferences and seminars.

                   Person Specification – Essential Requirements

(E) Qualification

  • ·       Bachelors degree in Marketing or another relevant field to International Development, with a minmium of 2 years’ experience in Fundraising and/or Marketing and/or outreach and public engagement,
  • ·       or,
  • ·       a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a relevant field
