Salary: 

£14,709 p.a.

Hours of Work:  

37.5 hours per week to meet the needs of the service 

Leave:  

20 days plus 12 statutory days

Pension:

Probation:        

Six month probationary period

 

Job Purpose

Reporting to the Catering Manager, the Meals on Wheels Co-Ordinator will be responsible for the preparation, co-ordination and provision of the meals on wheels service and will work alongside other re:fresh staff and volunteers in EBM’s re:fresh Café.

 

Main duties

Preparation and Serving of Food

  • To assist the Catering Manager in the preparation of food, including breakfasts, lunches, functions and baked goods
  • To serve food to the customers of the café ensuring high standards of customer care
  • To ensure all food is stored correctly and temperatures recorded appropriately
  • To operate the cash register
  • To assist in the provision of outside catering and promotions
  • To supervise volunteers and placements students in the preparation and serving of food

 Meals on Wheels Co-ordination

  • To create and maintain accurate computer records for Meals on Wheels clients
  • To produce weekly and daily delivery lists as required
  • To complete electronic monitoring forms daily
  • To ensure the maintenance and cleanliness of the van and to report and defects to the Catering Manager
  • To train and co-ordinate Meals on Wheels Volunteers as required
  • To be aware of Health and Safety risks associated with meal delivery and to comply with EBM risk assessments
  • To promote the Meals on Wheels Service as required
  • To provide first class customer care to all internal and external customers.

Maintaining Clean Areas

  • To ensure, delivery van, kitchen equipment and utensils are clean and maintained properly
  • To report faults to the Catering Manager
  • To report illness and accidents to supervisor

 

Other

  • To comply with Health and Safety, food hygiene and environmental regulations
  • To undertake any other reasonable duties as advised by Catering Manager
  • To represent EBM positively and professionally at all times
  • To work within the ethos of EBM

 

 

 

Personnel Specification

 

Essential

  • Minimum of 2 year’s catering experience in a public kitchen
  • Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate
  • The ability to build relationships and work as part of a team
  • Experience of customer care and/or care for the elderly
  • Personable and friendly disposition
  • Computer skills to maintain appropriate records
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Good organisational skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours
  • Ability to prioritise
  • Full clean driving licence

 

Desirable

  • Demonstrable supervisory experience
  • Health and safety qualification
  • A qualification in catering at least NVQ Level 2

 

 Additional Notes

This position gives the post holder access to vulnerable adults and will therefore be required to disclose details of any criminal convictions, including spent, bind-over orders and cautions in accordance with the Access NI Vetting and Baring Scheme and our organisation’s Children Protection Policy and Procedure.  An AccessNI check will be carried out, and in applying for this position, you are in agreement for the organisation to carry out this necessary check if successful.
