Marketing Co-ordinator

Hostelling International Northern Ireland

We are seeking to recruit a Marketing Co-ordinator to cover maternity leave until 2013. This position would be part-time, up to three days per week. Reporting to: General Secretary Salary: £18,000 Pro Rata

Job Purpose:              To co-ordinate, develop and implement the marketing strategy; develop and co-ordinate market development and product strategies; and co-ordinate a monitory strategy for statistical information.

Key Responsibilities:

1.         To plan, organise and control agreed marketing activities to ensure the achievement of the marketing objectives.

2.         To develop joint marketing and implement with travel partners in the priority sectors and geographical markets identified in the marketing plan, but particularly with the Youth Hostel Network.

3.         To co-ordinate, develop and implement a familiarisation and site visit programme with the key partners in the youth hostel sectors as highlighted in the marketing plan.

4.         To identify and co-ordinate product development strategies

5.         To work with partners in Regional Tourism organisations, Northern Ireland Tourist Board, Tourism Ireland Ltd and the Youth Hostelling Network to maximise the potential of the youth hostels in Northern Ireland.

6.         To co-ordinate with the hostel managers and together produce a package of discounts and free admission to facilities near to the youth hostels to the benefit of our members and international visitors.

7.         To establish and maintain good working relations with hostel managers, tour operators, the public and private sectors in the marketing ofNorthern   Irelandas a prime destination.

8.         To co-ordinate marketing activities with An Oige in theRepublicofIrelandto ensure that all joint marketing initiatives relating to our sector are carried out in an effective and efficient manner to maximiseIrelandas a destination within the marketing body of Tourism Ireland Ltd.

9.         To co-ordinate marketing activities withScotland,Englandand Wales Y.H.A's and the European network to maximise the number of visitors from these organisations. To co-ordinate with hostel managers, their marketing activities in their immediate environs and their relationships with local organisations and bodies involved in tourism e.g. N.I.T.B., Tourist Information Centres, District Councils and R.T.O's

10.       To proactively identify and profile new business opportunities in local and export markets and determine the best approach in each case.

11.       To provide product information to, and negotiate pricing with new customers.

12.       To update, maintain and manage a database of existing and potential customers through the development of a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system,.

13.       To prepare and present regular sales management reports that will enhance the decision making capability of the company.

14.       To exploit the use of the social networking sites in order to market the company's products/services.

15.       To attend marketing workshops, exhibitions, both trade and business, as and when desirable.

16.       To co-ordinate and compile marketing literature.

17.       To report to and liaise with the General Secretary on all matters relating to marketing.

18.       To attend managers/staff meetings and training courses as required.

19.       To undertake when necessary work outside of normal office hours.

20.       To undertake other related tasks as required.

Essential Criteria:

  • Third Level qualification in Hospitality, Tourism or Marketing.
  • Experience with e-marketing
  • Well developed communication skills, both verbal and written and an ability to communicate at all levels
  • Proficient in the use of word o processing, spreadsheets, database and presentation software, e-mail, internet and social networking sites.
  • Ability to proactively research and identify new business opportunities
  • Ability to achieve results while working independently and on own initiative
  • Able to work flexibly as required to ensure business needs are met
  • Current full driving licence and access to a vehicle for business use,
  • Able to travel both inside and outside ofNorthern   Irelandas required.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience in a marketing discipline
  • Knowledge of regional tourism organisations, Northern Ireland Tourist Board, TourismIrelandand youth hostel network
