The Macmillan Engagement Lead is key to our ambition to place people affected by cancer at the heart of everything we do. Your role is to actively engage people affected by cancer in Macmillan’s work in order to amplify their voices, ensure their involvement in service development and improvement, facilitate their input into our planning and decision-making processes, and to support solutions emerging from communities themselves.

Working closely with NI and UK colleagues, you will lead on the development and delivery of community engagement activities in line with the operational plan, bringing information and insight into the NI geographic team to influence services, campaigns and policy development

Working in line with our community engagement framework, you will develop a wide network of people affected by cancer, Macmillan professionals, clinical partnerships and local services to promote and influence best practice for user involvement and co-production.

You will develop and promote opportunities for people affected by cancer to be involved in Macmillan’s and our partner organisations’ service development and improvement activities including delivering community networking and outreach events, facilitating conversations, advocating and influencing locally and supporting communities to co-produce their own solutions when they are best placed to do so.

To excel in the role, you will bring a working knowledge of Health and Social Care structures, both statutory and voluntary, and developed community networks. From your experience of supporting and developing service-user involvement you can show evidence of inclusive practice, working directly with diverse service users and communities to instigate change in service provision, including through co-production. You can use data to gain a strategic view of needs and opportunities, while your initiative allows you to work autonomously, you will bring excellent collaboration and project management skills.

Macmillan is committed to actively developing you. Benefits include private medical insurance, life assurance, pension, childcare vouchers, and generous leave. The role is home-based and involves daily travel in the normal course of the work and therefore a current valid driver licence is essential. Some evening and out-of-hours work will also be required, and occasional overnight stays.
