JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Health Awareness Assistant
Hours: Full Time 35 hours per week
Responsible to: Health Awareness Co-ordinator/ Centre Manager
Line Manager: Health Awareness Co-ordinator
Aims of Post: To assist in all aspects of the Health and Wellbeing Project
Salary: £16,604 pa
Contract to: End of March 2018
Essential Criteria
- 2 years working experience of Microsoft Office Packages or relevant computer qualification.
- Experience or knowledge of assisting/supporting an adult community related health project.
- Excellent communication skills; both oral and written skills.
- The ability to work on own initiative.
- Experience or knowledge of motivational skills and techniques.
- Knowledge or experience of providing support and encouragement to participants/clients.
- Knowledge or experience of the facilitation of classes to adult learners.
- Knowledge of the Health Issues relating to women from an area such as the Shankill.
Desirable Criteria
- Knowledge of the work delivered by Women’s Centres
- Working experience of community monitoring and evaluation.
- To be able to be empathetic to the challenges faced by women who use the centre.
MAIN DUTIES
- To be involved in all of aspects of project delivery.
- To provide administration support.
- To record and maintain statistics relating to participants through a computerised data collection package e.g. Social Impact Tracker.
- To maintain OCN systems and tracking.
- To positively interact with project participants and all other women who use the Centre.
- To carry out ‘One to One’s’ with women, where necessary.
- Telephone follow-up’s (should a women not attend a class).
- To accurately maintain class registers.
- To assist in recruitment and enrolment of participants to classes.
- To carry out needs assessment and progression charts for participants.
- Support and assist women with Events/Sales.
- To demonstrate good time keeping.
- To assist with co-facilitation and with the delivery programmes/services.
- To be involved in the promotion and publicity of both project and centre activities and events.
- To attend relevant meetings, conferences, networking, where necessary.
- Provide cover for Health Co-ordinator when necessary.
- To undertake and complete any suitable training that would enhance the ability to perform the duties of this post e.g. Listening Ear, Suicide and Self Harm Awareness, Assist, Cook-It, Walk Group Leaders and Facilitation Skills.
- To observe the law in respect of confidentiality when maintaining records and communicating with clients who use the centre or the services it provides.
- To undertake any other such reasonable duties as may be required by the Line Manager, Centre Manager and Board of Directors.
- The post holder will be required to keep confidential any information learned as part of their job regarding individuals working /using the Centre. Such information must not be passed on unless it is deemed to be in the interests of the individual or the Centre to do so and then only to the Centre Manager.
