VSO Ireland now wishes to recruit a highly motivated, visionary and capable Executive Director who will take responsibility for leading and managing a fast growing and dynamic organisation

VSO volunteers are highly skilled and experienced professionals who work on structured impactful programmes in some of the world’s poorest and most marginalised communities.

VSO volunteers can be found at the highest levels of government and among grassroots organisations.  International volunteers work alongside national counterparts as well as national volunteers to create a diverse and dynamic response to the challenges marginalised communities in Africa, Asia and the Pacific face.

The Executive Director takes full responsibility to deliver on core objectives, the strategic plan, and the promotion of the vision of VSO Ireland to motivate and influence diverse sectoral interests crtical to its success.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced management professional, with a proven track record of achievement, who has demonstrated competence in financial and budgetary skills and has the ability to identify and secure funding from diverse sources. An awareness and understanding of the issues affecting international development is desirable. Excellent interpersonal skills are essential in order to relate to multiple audiences both in Ireland and overseas.

Reporting to the Chair and a highly engaged board, particular responsibilities will include increasing VSO Ireland’s national and international profile, positioning VSO Ireland as the Voice of Volunteering in Ireland, building and managing a professional and motivated team, developing existing and new sources of funding and maintaining a strong commercial orientation.
