Essential Skills Tutor - Numeracy

The organisation:

Reconnect is a registered charity located in the Castlereagh Hills outside Belfast. Established in 1991Reconnect provides training and rehabilitation services to adults of all ages with acquired brain injury (ABI).

It is an accredited training centre which provides recognised qualifications in accordance with QCF in literacy, numeracy, IT and horticulture. In addition, Reconnect offers a range of non-accredited training and rehabilitation programmes in these areas and in a wide range of socio-vocational activities.

The job role:

To provide essential skills programmes in numeracy and related subjects to clients with acquired brain injury.

Essential Criteria:

• GCSE’s Grade C or above (or equivalent) in English and Maths.

• A minimum Level 4 qualification in Essential Skills, numeracy and/or IT.

• Previous experience of delivering Essential Skill Numeracy qualification ranging from Entry Level 1 – Level 2

• Experience in development and delivery of accredited training programme

• Proven ability of maintaining records and reporting  on training issues

• Be prepared to undertake the ACCESS NI clearance process.

• Hold a current driving licence and access to own transport or be able to access the work location. If a disability precludes an individual from holding a drivers licence, it should be stated how they can meet the requirements of the post.

Desirable Criteria:

• UUJ Certificate in Teaching

• Ability to teach an additional subject

• Experience of working with adults with ABI or another disability

• Experience in the development and delivery of OCN units

• Ability to work under minimal supervision
