Employability and External Engagement Manager

The Open University

From 32004 To 38183
37.00

The Open University is the largest provider of part-time undergraduate higher education in Northern Ireland. Our students overcome many barriers to engage in higher education.

Many have had negative past experiences of education. Many balance their studies alongside work and caring commitments. 17% of our students have a disability. We want to ensure that each of our students can maximise the impact of the skills they develop through Open University study when it comes to their career prospects.

We are seeking to recruit an Employability & External Engagement Manager to develop and maintain relationships with employers across Northern Ireland and to increase the employment prospects of our students. For this new role within the organisation, we want to recruit a self-motivated and creative person who can establish a visible presence for the University across the employer community.

The main roles for the successful applicant will be to:

Develop relationships with employers within the public, private and community/voluntary sectors to make them aware of the strengths that Open University students bring to the workplace and the wide range of services that The Open University can offer to them. They will also seek to develop a work placements and internships scheme which allows Open University students to gain work experience in areas of relevance to their future careers goals. The successful candidate will build networks with local alumni of The Open University and develop an online tool to give potential students free tasters of what it is like to study subjects that are in high demand within the Northern Irish economy.
