EDUCATION AND OUTREACH OFFICER

 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Candidates must have:

• A relevant Honours degree (in the Humanities).
• Proven experience of research and outreach in history and culture.
• Proven Community Relations/Development experience (one year’s experience in a paid or voluntary capacity in the previous three).
• Good communication skills and the ability to work on one’s own initiative and as part of a team.
• Proficiency in the use of Word, Access, Excel and PowerPoint.
• A current driving licence and access to a car.
• Be willing to work unsociable hours.

 DUTIES:

• To explore resource needs in the community and educational sectors, and particularly in disadvantaged areas, and to seek to match these with the resource potential of the Collections in the Linen Hall Library.
• To increase cross community and multicultural contact within this project
• To develop and facilitate relationships with partner organisations
• Developing links with multicultural community groups and managing workshops, developing/facilitating workshops
• To increase shared knowledge of the Collections in the Library
• To  manage the budget allocation
• To increase ease and familiarity of ‘own’ and ‘other’ traditions.
• To provide opportunities for education, exploration, exchange and debate
• To facilitate group and individual visits to the Library.
• Any other duties as appropriate.
