Little Steps Sure Start project is a partnership project funded by the Department of Education to provide a range of services to both children from pre-birth up to four years old and their families.

The Project facilitates a number of outreach and home visiting services from community venues across Antrim. Little Steps Sure Start comprises a multi-disciplinary team and works in close partnership with a range of local Statutory, Voluntary and Community groups to promote effective service delivery in response to the needs of the local families and children across the designated Sure Start areas. At Little Steps Sure Start project we strive for excellence in providing a stimulating and welcoming environment, working in partnership with parents and carers, to improve the outcomes for children and families who attend our services. An integrated management system is in place across both Little Steps and Ballymena Sure Start Projects, therefore at times, you will be required to work flexibly across other sites and venues within both Ballymena and Antrim.

 

As an Early Years Worker you will work as part of a team to help plan and deliver children's programmes which are at the heart of our day-to-day operation at Little Steps Sure Start. Providing childcare to children aged between 0-4 years you'll use your flare for providing a stimulating environment for children to learn through play. You will utilise appropriate methods of observation, following specific early years planning documents and implementing activities and experiences for children to support their development. Furthermore, you will display an understanding of children's attachment behaviour and how positive adult interactions will enhance a child's development and sense of wellbeing. Additionally you will be required to demonstrate an underpinning knowledge of safeguarding and confidentiality, record keeping and IT skills. You will display a flexible approach to work and the skills required to engage with young children, their families and other professional agencies. Furthermore you will contribute to the review and further development of the services within Little Steps Sure Start.

 

Essential Requirements

As well as working within Action for Children's policies and procedures at all times, you will need a Level 2 qualification in Early Years care and education or equivalent and you must be able to demonstrate an understanding of the Minimum Standards for Day-care and Childminding for Children under age 12. You must be able to demonstrate an ability to meet the travel expectations associated with working flexibly within this outreach based Sure Start project in Antrim and across Ballymena Sure Start where required.
