Start360 are recruiting a DAISY North Keyworker on a full-time, permanent basis. This post will be based in Ballymena.

Information on the experience and qualifications required for the post are outlined in the application pack. Interviews with successfully shortlisted candidates are scheduled to take place on Tuesday 08 and Wednesday 09 August 2017.

Salary: NJC Points 23 – 25 (£21,268 – £22,658)

Base: Start360 Ballymena office

Probation: You will serve a probationary period of six months.  This may be extended if considered appropriate

Hours: Full-time (37 hours per week)

Contract: Permanent


Background to the Project

DAISY is a partnership between Start360 and ASCERT, and is funded by the Public Health Agency. The Service provides person-centred programmes for young people and young adults up to age 25 years old, to help them reduce the harm caused by their substance misuse.       

DAISY provides young people and their families with an individually tailored package of support that can include:

  • Therapeutic Mentoring;
  • Family support and systemic family work;
  • Counselling; and
  • Groupwork.

  

Background to the Role

The Keyworker will work directly with young people from the age of 12 up to and including the age of 25. 

Working alongside the DAISY Service, the Keyworker will support young people and their families to address crisis and ongoing issues involving alcohol/drugs misuse.  The Keyworker will also promote, strengthen and develop the potential of parents/carers and young people to work together, to prevent the young person from being at risk from the misuse of alcohol and other substances.  

The support provided will be within the context of an Intervention Pathway which will be designed for each young person participating in the Service.

 A range of training and development, as well as therapeutic interventions, are encompassed within the Service.

 

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide support and interventions to young people at risk because of their substance and alcohol misuse issues, delivering appropriate person-centred interventions;
  • Manage a caseload of clients from both internal and external referral sources, with regular case review;
  • Carry out detailed assessments of clients’ needs and support them appropriately, using validated tools prescribed by Start360 and all of the expertise available within DAISY and other services;
  • Develop care plans in agreement with each client based on identified need;
  • Deliver therapeutic group work programmes along with other members of the DAISY team;
  • Ensure the health, safety and welfare of all clients is paramount at all times;
  • Work in collaboration with other DAISY practitioners and partner agencies to ensure a seamless service for young people and their families;
  • Assist other DAISY staff in supporting young people in crisis due substance misuse/alcohol issues;
  • Support parents/carers and family groups affected by substance and alcohol misuse;
  • Keep up to date with new developments in the care and support of people with substance misuse issues and ensuring that best practice is maintained;
  • Develop innovative ways of working with young people and support each client’s individual intervention;
  • Develop and maintain professional and effective relationships with all stakeholders: young people, families, statutory, community and voluntary organisations;
  • Develop processes through which young people can inform and shape the development of the DAISY Service;
  • Record all client work on Start360’s Client Information System;
  • Provide monthly statistics and progress reports as required by the DAISY East Service Delivery Manager;
  • Attend 4-6 weekly reviews and annual appraisals with the DAISY East Service Delivery Manager;
  • Participate in team and organisational meetings, training and conferences, and maintain own professional development;
  • Assist with the creation of a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, which will maintain and enhance the quality of care to each client and maximise their opportunities for choice;
  • Contribute to the overall evaluation of the Service; and
  • Carry out other responsibilities that may be required, as commensurate with the post.
