The Consumer Protection Officer with the support of the Consumer Empowerment and Protection Officer will be responsible for undertaking the Consumer Council’s statutory complaints role as part of the mainly telephone based complaint handling team.

The Consumer Protection Officer will also undertake consumer protection projects that support consumers by identifying, highlighting and tackling consumer detriment. The role will also involve providing support to the Consumer Council’s consumer empowerment programmes/events etc.

Key service delivery areas of the role include providing an efficient and professional consumer investigation, resolution and reporting service in relation to the Consumer Council’s statutory complaints role. The role involves interacting and communicating with consumers and stakeholders in an effective, courteous and timely manner. The role will involve ensuring the organisation fully maximises the data provided from consumer complaints to enhance our consumer advocacy, consumer empowerment and consumer protection roles. As part of the Consumer Empowerment and Protection Team, the role will also look to support communication and empowerment functions throughout the Consumer Council.
