Community Project Development Manager

This new post of Community Project Development Manager will develop and deliver local projects by building our capacity to work in partnership with others.
PURPOSE:
To focus on tackling empty homes or community buildings through an innovative community centred approach which empowers local people to deliver positive change; leveraging shelter as a catalyst for community transformation.
Key Responsibilities
Develop relationships with partners who would be able to work with Habitat NI to improve housing conditions and help transform communities by tackling empty homes, providing affordable homes and the refurbishment of community buildings.
Generate leads, make appointments and deliver effective presentations to interested partners both in public, private and community sectors
Create and be accountable for proposals, contracts, memoranda of understanding and other documentation relating to all requests for information.
Keep abreast of policy developments that affect housing and develop Habitat NI policy and procedures to ensure we meet or exceed best practice in this field
Schemes to be worked on from initial feasibility study right through health and safety, construction planning and project delivery.
The post holder will be the contact for all organisations partnering with Habitat NI on local building projects.
Liaise with others in the sector; across the UK and Ireland to identify replicable models and projects.
Ensure that all projects are sustainable, are costed effectively and with funding secured where necessary
Represent Habitat NI at conferences or other events as needed.
PERSONAL SPECIFICATION
Essential
A relevant third level qualification
Demonstrable ability to write and present clear business cases; including financial plans and budgets, to senior levels within organisations.
Construction sector project management experience
Excellent time management and organisational skills, including the ability to work as part of a team, work under pressure and make effective decisions while managing several projects simultaneously.
Experience of establishing and developing relationships within existing and potential partners including public, private and community sectors.
Valid driving licence and access to a car to undertake duties associated with this role.

Desirable
Understanding of the policy implications of government announcements.
Understanding of the relevant legal principles around property law.
Understanding of contractual relationships in the construction industry, including warranties and risk management.
Experience of the not for profit sector and the motivations and cultural background of the sector.
Experience of working with volunteers.
Broad understanding and knowledge of community relations, community regeneration and global development
