Community Fundraising Volunteer Manager

You will recruit, manage and develop a network of local volunteers who will undertake fundraising activities both on behalf of and in aid of Barnardo’s NI.

Job Purpose

  • Devise an Operational Plan and Budget to deliver the financial and non- financial targets required by Barnardo’s so that the organisation can transform the lives of the most vulnerable children. In order to deliver the plan, build, develop and sustain a network through the recruitment and management of Key Volunteers within your area to lead, support and deliver fundraising as well as represent Barnardo’s locally
  • Optimise sustainable Volunteer and Supporter led fundraising in your assigned area, recruiting and working in partnership with Key Volunteers to negotiate opportunities that will maximise net income and impact.
  • Collaborate with other locally based staff to engage volunteers across the organisation to support the delivery of Community Fundraising objectives.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and other area, regions, nations, departments/sections to optimise profitable joint working and deliver shared objectives
  • Be the key staff point of contact & representative for your assigned area & ensure all activity complies with organisational and legal requirements

Key Accountabilities

  • Devise an Operational Plan and Budget to deliver the financial and non- financial targets required by Barnardo’s
  • Plan & implement a proactive programme of volunteer and supporter led activity in your area to achieve the agreed financial and non financial objectives in consultation with the Head of Fundraising
  • Prepare, monitor and evaluate financial and non-financial targets for your area including expenditure, reporting progress regularly, identifying any potential shortfalls and activity to address
  • Recruit, manage and develop Key Volunteers to implement and support the delivery of financial goals of the fundraising plan, actively managing role rotation and succession
  • Build the expertise & contribution of Key Volunteers through peer to peer activity, together with a sense of belonging to the Barnardo’s volunteer community
  • Network and negotiate proactively and work with individuals and groups in the community including individuals, organisations, educational establishments and in collaboration with the Head of Fundraising, Small and Medium sized business Enterprises (SMEs), in support of your objectives, prioritising to optimise income generating potential
  • Build relationships and work collaboratively across other Barnardo’s teams in your areas –UK Marketing, Retail and Children’s Services - to manage the development and implementation of Community Fundraising plans and enlist their support in the achievement of Community Fundraising goals. 
  • Advise and optimise the fundraising of supporters who wish to fundraise through their own efforts for Barnardo’s ensuring this is legally and organisationally compliant and aiming to develop their long term potential to Barnardo’s
  • Train and equip Key Volunteers with the knowledge, motivation and understanding to implement their role in the community on behalf of Barnardo’s, delivering this peer to peer wherever possible
  • Report regularly on all activity, identifying any risk factors and action to address
  • Conduct all activity in a ‘supporter centric’ manner, actively seeking to grow lifetime commitment
  • Ensure all activity is conducted within all Barnardo’s policies including the up to date supporter and data management policy and practices of the department, all legal requirements and the Institute of Fundraising Code of Practice
  • Ensure all activity is clearly planned, monitored and evaluated with sharing and application of learning
  • Lead on assigned development projects, working cross regionally and departmentally as appropriate
