Clinical Programme Lead/Service Lead

The Project Co-ordinator will lead on the development and implementation of the Family First Project. This project is a partnership programme between the Department of Psychological Services, Belfast Health and Social Care Trust and Brain Injury Matters NI and is funded by the Big Lottery Fund NI. It aims to provide tailored psychosocial interventions to empower families across NI to meet the challenges of supporting children who have sustained an Acquired Brain Injury.

 Main Duties

The Project Coordinator’s main duties will be:

1. Stakeholder Communications

   ( i)           Promotion of project to referral agents and stakeholders

   (ii)           Coordination and management of Steering Group meetings

    (iii)           Assist in project promotion

    ( iv)          Project monitoring and reporting to Funder

2. Project design and input into project materials development

   ( i)           Adopting a secondary prevention model, contribute to the development of innovative approaches to interventions designed to empower families, maintain the family unit and maximise family coping and recovery over time.

   (ii)           Participation in the development of  the Parenting  Skills and Family Problem Solving Programme to be delivered to multi-family groups and/ or to a single family unit.

   (iii)          Ongoing development of training materials and information leaflets for families and children for use within the Parenting Skills and Family Problem Solving Programmes.

   (iv)          Manage  development of programme resources including programme manual and online resources.

       3         Management of Family referrals

   ( i)          Recruitment, Co-ordination and Assessment of families .         

   (ii)         The recording of the results of the assessments and the advice given. 

   (iii)        The implementation of the necessary action to initiate and facilitate further

   measures of educational or social or clinical support for the children assessed. 

   (iv)        The provision of advice to teachers, parents and relevant others on the educational

   and social needs of the children concerned.

   4             Ensure the delivery of all elements of the Family First Project

   ( i)          Provide leadership in the delivery of the range of intervention designed to address the emotional needs of families and support the education and rehabilitation needs of the child.

   ( ii)        Coordination and participation in the delivery of the Parenting Skills and Family Problem solving programmes to be delivered to multi family groups and /or to a family as a unit.

   (iii)        Adopt a goal focussed approach to planning interventions and reviewing progress.

   ( iv)       Provide ongoing support, advice and tailored intervention  to families as follow-up to participation in the parenting Skills and Family problem solving programmes.

   (  v)       Ensure collaborative working and effective communication with other agencies involved in working with the child and family.

   ( vi)       Ensure standards and systems are in place to monitor the delivery of service.

   5       Advising and co-operating with other agencies with respect to individual children

   6       Staff performance management and support of the Project team 

   7       Support in monitoring, research and evaluation of project

     

   PERSONNEL SPECIFICATION

   ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

   1             Professional qualification in Education Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Occupational

   Therapy, Social work, or Physiotherapy and Registration with the appropriate body OR

   Post Graduate qualification in relevant health and social care discipline together with 2 years management experience working at a senior level within a health and social care environment.

   2             A minimum of 2 years’ experience of working with children and families OR

                   2 years’ experience working with families with Acquired Brain Injury

   3             Evidence of successful project management skills.

   4            Experience of training/teaching.

   5             Excellent communication skills- written, personal and interpersonal.

   6             Ability to work autonomously.

   7             Hold a current full driving license valid in the UK and have access to a car.

   DESIRABLE CRITERIA

       Experience of working with people who have Acquired brain injury.

       A minimum of 2 years’ experience working with children with chronic illness or disability         

       and their families. 

       Experience of Group Work.

 Note

 1             The job description is not definitive and may be amended to meet changing needs of the

project and Brain Injury Matters NI.

 2             If appointed you will be required to produce evidence of qualifications and evidence that

you are legally entitled to live and work in the UK.

 3           Part time may be considered.  We reserve the right to recruit for a similar position in the organisation from this pool of applicants within the next 6 months.

 About the Family First Project

The project will support the emotional needs of families and give them strategies and supports to help them work towards achieving their educational and rehabilitation goals.

Selection Process

The closing date for all applications is the 3rd October at 12.00pm and it is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure their details arrive on time.

Application Process

 Applicants must clearly and fully demonstrate on their application form how they meet the eligibility criteria.  Applicants will be assessed and shortlisted on the basis of the information provided in their application forms. We may decide to interview only those applicants who appear, from the information they have provided on their application, to be most suitable in terms of relevant experience and ability.

 It is essential therefore, that applicants fully describe within their application how they meet each of the selection criteria giving specific examples as appropriate.  Shortlist

 Initial shortlisting will be applied against the essential criteria. This will involve assessing which candidates have best demonstrated how they meet each of the essential criteria. If a large number of applications are received, the desirable criteria may also be used at the discretion of Brain Injury Matters. Brain Injury Matters also reserves the right to enhance the essential criteria for short listing purposes.
